Brent Beringer, Resident District Manager at the University of Virginia, received the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) College Foodservice Excellence Award. Presented at the association’s recent national meeting, the award recognizes the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of a foodservice provider who has gone above and beyond to greatly improve the dining experience on their campuses or in the industry in general.

Men's Fitness Magazine Names Fittest Colleges
ARAMARK is pleased to announce that six of its client partners have been ranked among the nation’s 25 fittest colleges, according to Men’s Fitness. Included on the list are: University of Alabama, Florida State University, University of Delaware, University of Florida, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the University of Minnesota. Through ARAMARK’s CampusDish portal, students have access to a variety of healthy resources that promote nutrition and fitness, including an online tool that provides nutritional information, as well as the Just4U program which disseminates healthy eating tips, tools and recipes.

2011 Princeton Review Names Top 20 Colleges with Best Campus Food
ARAMARK Higher Education is pleased to announce that three of its clients have ranked among the top 20 colleges in the nation with the best campus food. Based on the 2011 survey results of over 122,000 students at 376 schools, the Princeton Review has named James Madison University as the #5 college with the best tasting food. The University of Scranton ranked at #12 and Boston University was named #13.

2011 Food Management Best Concept Award in the “Best Special Event” category: Stephen F. Austin State University’s African Food Festival.
The African Food Festival in the spring of 2010 was a product of teamwork between the school’s dining services department, its contract service provider, Aramark, the school’s Multicultural Affairs Dept. and student group Africans@Heart. Together, they developed an Africa-themed event that featured authentic dishes from different regions of the continent. It was recognized for going beyond the traditional “monotony breaker” function by emphasizing a strong educational component and food execution with a high degree of sophistication (the dishes were authentic and used ingredients that were carefully sourced). It also helped build relationships within the campus community.

2010 ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) Certification and CIMS-Green Building (CIMS-GB) Certification with Honors
ARAMARK Higher Education is the first company in Higher Education to receive both CIMS and CIMS-GB Certification with Honors for services provided nationwide.
2010 Florida Outstanding Employer Award: ARAMARK at Florida State University
ARAMARK Food Services at Florida State University was one of seven businesses named an outstanding employer by the State of Florida and Governor Charlie Christ for their commitment to hiring people with disabilities.
ARAMARK at FSU has participated in the Leon County Schools' Community Based Work Experience (CBWE) program for approximately eight years. Due to ARAMARK's participation in the program, over 200 students have obtained gainful work experience, which they were able to record on their applications when applying for jobs.

2010 Employer of the Year: ARAMARK Dining at Mississippi State
ARAMARK Dining Services at Mississippi State University has been named "Employer of the Year" by the Rehabilitation Association of Mississippi.
The award honors the company's commitment to promoting employment for persons with disabilities, an accomplishment achieved in partnership with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Service's AbilityWorks program. AbilityWorks subcontracts with companies such as ARAMARK, helping assist the disabled with employment.
The rehabilitation association's "Employer of the Year" recipient is selected by organization board members from a nominee pool. The award is given to the individual, firm or group of employers who best promote employment for persons with disabilities above and beyond what is required by local, state or federal laws.
